Bottega Gatti, Faenza Glazed majolica vase

Enamelled entirely with Florentine gold enamels and finished with heavy metal lustre. Underneath, 'Bottega Gatti Faenza'. The 'Gatti & C.' factory was founded by Riccardo Gatti and Luigi Montabilini in 1928 in Faenza. Among other things, ceramics in the Futurist style designed by Giacomo Balla were produced in the kiln. In 1930 Montabilini left the company, Riccardo Gatti remained alone in the management of the factory and specialized in the study of metal lustre decorated ceramics. In 1932 he participated in the Bologna Exhibition where he received a cross of merit and a gold medal for artistic ceramics. The manufactory, under the direction of Riccardo Gatti, remained active until 1972, the year of his death. Later, the leadership of the factory was entrusted to Gatti's nephew and pupil, Dante Servadei, assisted by his son Davide, who changed the name of the factory to 'Bottega Gatti' to distinguish it from his uncle's production. The factory is still active today, under the name 'Ceramica Gatti 1928'. by Davide Servadei and his sisters Laura and Marta, producing artistic ceramics of the highest level.
