Description

Scarabean; Egypt, second intermediate period, 1800-1150 B.C. Teatite. One of them has slight losses. They have a seal on the base. Measurements: 1,5 x 1 cn (larger). Set formed by three scarabs made in teatite. The scarab was an amulet of life and power in the form of a dung beetle, an animal associated with Jepri, the self-created, god of the rising sun. It is the most common type of Ancient Egyptian amulet, and it has a small size and, in most cases, a hole that allows it to be strung on a necklace. Among the different materials in which the scarabs have been made, basalt, granite, amethyst, lapis lazuli, carnelian, gold and, as in this case, steatite stand out. One of them has slight losses.
