Description

Ushebti . Ancient Egypt. Lower Epoch, 664 - 323 BC. Fayenza. Provenance: Private collection, Paris, France, acquired on the art market in the 1980s. Good state of preservation. Measurements: 6.2 cm high; 8 cm high with stand. Ushebti of glazed composition, with hieroglyphs incised on the synthesized body. He crosses his arms over his chest holding agricultural tools. The worn hieroglyphic text probably refers to the sixth chapter of the Book of the Dead. The ushebtis are small mummiform figurines that represented the deceased himself, whose name means "those who respond" since they would carry out those works ordered by their lord in the afterlife.
