Jacques LEHMAN dit NAM (1881 - 1974). Two cats by the fire. Gouache signed and bearing the handwritten comment "Croyez moi mon cher, quit ce collier ou avant 8 jours vous aurez le "collet ras". View: 41 x 31 cm. On the back of the frame, the reproduction of the drawing for the magazine "Le Sourire" indicates that this original drawing must have served as an illustration project in the latter magazine. Indeed, from 1900 onwards, Jacques Nam began to draw cartoons for La Vie Parisienne, Le Sourire and Le Rire, then worked as an illustrator for Hachette and Flammarion, and did political cartoons for newspapers such as Le Figaro and L'Echo de Paris.
