Nat : Popa Medaw Set of three polychrome wood sculptures. Burma, 19th and early 20th century H: 45, 45 and 68 cm Great Nat Me Wunna. accompanied by her sons Shwe Hpyin Naungdaw and Shwe Hpyin Nyidaw. According to legend, King Anawrahta of Bagan ordered Byatta, a figure endowed with supernatural powers, to fetch fresh flowers ten times a day from Mount Popa. Byatta fell in love with Me Wunna. She died of grief after Byatta's death, and became known as Popa Medaw. Slight cracks in the bases. The original hand-held weapons are missing.
