Georgian period desk-bookcase. England, late 18th-early 19th century. Mahogany wood and lemongrass marquetry. Use marks. In need of restoration. One handle missing. Various glass faults. Measurements: 240 x 108 x 54 cm. Victorian bookcase, in walnut wood, with lemongrass marquetry in the form of fillets and medallions. It consists of three sections: a chest of drawers with large drawers and metal handles, a desk-secretariat with drawers and compartments, with a pull-out top, and a bookcase in the upper section. The latter is topped with a beautifully truncated pediment, in the form of two opposing scrolls that stylise the whole. The glass doors are decorated with fine ribs forming attractive geometric tracery patterns.
