Louis XIV style chest of drawers, 20th century. Wood with marquetry and bronze applications. Measurements: 114 x 82,5 x 57 cm. Three-tiered chest of drawers whose marquetry pattern is reminiscent of the Louis XVI period pieces by the famous French cabinetmaker Thomas Hache. Hache was trained in the Italian style of design, often using a geometric design. The layout consists of quadrilaterals, rectangles and diamonds composed of honey-colored, light brown and ebonized veneers. A bronze chamfered molding surrounds the outside of the top, while its front follows the design of the rest of the cabinet. Each of the three drawers features two garland handles with fleur-de-lys mounts and a large lock escutcheon. Two ogee feet on the front give way to a sharply outlined waistband, all adorned with brass mounts (the feet have foliate tendrils surrounding a pierced cartouche with a scalloped shell medallion, while the apron has a scalloped leaf margin with a cabochon).
