Description

Pair of bookends. France, ca. 1920. Bronze with silver patina on marble base veined. Measurements: 11 x 11 x 5 cm. The animal bookends, along with the "car mascots", were a constant during the first two decades of the twentieth century. Possibly as a consequence of the desire on the part of the modernist artists and of the art deco that any domestic object was susceptible of being a work of art.
