Description

Pair of candlesticks as glasses. Possibly Belgium or France, ca. 1900. Patinated bronze on Belgian black marble bases. Measurements: 39 x 16 x 15 cm; Marble base: 50 cm. Elegant pair of candlesticks as cups in patinated bronze and Belgian black marble, characteristic of the Napoleon III period and that had its echo during the Third French Republic. The tank, studded with tendrils in relief, rises up on a crowned foot and this, in turn, rests on a marble base with lion paws, reminiscent of the Restoration period. The handle, made with different vegetal elements, such as bells in its upper third or acanthus leaves, is on one side, while on the other, as a blinded pouring spout, there is an animal's head. The candlestick is crowned by a lighter or light holder to place the candle.
