Description

FRANÇOIS ANDRÉ CLÉMENCIN (1878 - 1950). "Diane la chasseresse luttant contre un bélier", ca. 1920. Patinated bronze sculpture Signed: CLÉMENCIN. Measurements: 35 x 30 x 15 cm. François Clémencin was a Lyonnais sculptor who developed his career under the mantle of sculptor and academician Jules Coutan. A member of the Salon des Artistes Français, he began exhibiting there in 1907, receiving an honorable mention that same year. In addition, in 1932, he participated in the artistic competitions, in the category of "sculpture", at the 1932 Summer Olympic Games in Los Angeles, United States, with a bas-relief plaque representing a fencing competition. In this sculpture the author opts for a mythological scene, where he plays with the hallmarks between the candid human nudity and the irrepressible animal impetus, represented by Diana, goddess of wild beasts, and a ram that tries to approach her.
