DOGON, Mali. Wood, slightly grainy patina, fibers, cowries, seeds, beads, raffia. Dance mask featuring a schematic human face surmounted by a seated female figure marked by her generous chest and sagittal crest. She represents the first woman to be consecrated as "Yasigine" by "Andouboulou", the only woman admitted to the society of masks. Height: 83 cm. Damage and missing parts, restorations.
