FANG, Gabon. Wood, skin, patina, metal. Rare and ancient "Ngombi" harp used in Byeri rituals. The resonance box is covered on the front and sides with skin stretched with leather ligatures. The box is surmounted by a long-necked human head, with the ten-peg arched handle penetrating the base of the neck. The face is heart-shaped, with a flat chin and slightly tubular eyes. 1st half of the 20th century. Height: 87 cm. Height of head alone: 26 cm.
