The Fallow Deer and the Leopard, Europe, circa 1760 Folded fan, the double sheet in wallpaper of Chinese figures in a garden by peony blossoms and cherry blossoms. A man holds a leopard in one hand, close to a deer. Reverse painted with flowers. Fine ivory mounting (elephantidae spp), reperced, carved and engraved with characters in cartels and a country entertainment in the center. The head is covered with a brown scale plate (cheloniidae spp). (Wear, restorations.) Total height: 29.2 cm; closed height: 14.9 cm Weight: 60 g. In a black lacquered wooden box with gold decoration. China, 19th century. *Ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC Regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc, and prior to July 1, 1975 and therefore compliant with the French decrees of May 4, 2017 and January 2022.
