Sunshade frame, with pivoting screen system, Europe, 19th century Frame for a folding "marquise" parasol. The second hinge allows it to be tilted into a screen. Whalebone (balaenidae spp.). Pole and handle in turned ivory (elephantidae spp). The handle is carved and engraved with a rotating rose design. Total length: 61.5 cm; weight: 135 g. In a fan box bearing the address of the fan maker Alouïse Van de Voorde on the lid. *Ivory specimen of Elephantidae spp (I/A) pre-Convention, prior to July 1, 1947 and therefore compliant with EC regulation 338/97 of 09/12/1996 art.2-Wmc, and prior to July 1, 1975 and therefore compliant with the French decrees of May 4, 2017 and January 2022.
