Description

Perfume bottle in 18k (750 thousandths) yellow gold from the late 19th/early 20th century, richly decorated with champlevé enamels in bright colors. The lid opens onto a metal stem used to delicately place the perfume on the body. The two central parts are in transparent red enamel called Lal zamin, on which are set diamond leaves and rose-cut diamonds in the "kundan" gold leaf setting technique and decorated with pairs of white birds, probably an illustration of the white peacock symbolizing peace and prosperity. A profusion of vegetal decoration fills the rest of the volume, with multicolored crested birds. Private collection of a Belgian noble family. Jaipur enamels, Rajasthan. Dimensions: approx. 8 x 4.5 x 3.2 cm. Gross weight: 120.1 g.
