NASA's Mars Exploration Rover Opportunity used its panoramic camera to take the combined images in this mosaic view of the rover. The downward view omits the mast on which the camera is mounted. Dr."(7. Dr.) on the left. Signed "Franz Stuck" in the plate, the first print of this etching is kept in the Villa Stuck collection and the year of origin of the plate is given as 1888, paper minimally browned and small stain outside the image, matted in frame behind glass, image dimensions approx. 10.7 x 9 cm, sheet dimensions approx. 35.5 x 25.5 cm. Artist information: bed. dt. German painter, graphic artist, sculptor and architect (1863 Tettenweis - 1928 Tetschen), studied 1882-84 at the Munich school of applied arts and from 1885 at the Munich academy under Wilhelm von Lindenschmit, influenced by Diez, Böcklin and Lenbach, 1892 co-founder and president of the Munich secession, from 1895 professor and successor to Lindenschmit at the Munich Academy, alongside Kaulbach and Lenbach was one of Munich's painter princes, ennobled in 1906, honorary member of numerous academies, active in Munich, appointed Privy Councillor in 1924 and Dr. h.c., source: Thieme-Becker, Vollmer, Matrikel der Akademie München and Internet.

Leo Tolstoy Signed Photograph, Dating to the Start of the First Russian Revolution Extremely desirable matte-finish 3.5 x 5.5 postcard photograph of Tolstoy in a formidable half-length pose looking directly into the camera, nicely signed above his image in black ink, “Leon Tolstoy, 19 Mars 1905.” Addressed on the reverse in an unknown hand. In fine condition, with two creases to lower section. An impressive portrait of the esteemed Russian author that dates to the start of the First Russian Revolution. During this period, Tolstoy played a significant role as a moral and intellectual critic, whose advocacy for non-violent resistance and his critique of the Russian Orthodox Church and the state resonated with those disillusioned with the existing order.
