GEORGES BASTARD (1881-1939) - U.A.M. MEMBER Les Cercles concentriques, unique piece Exceptional cylindrical box. Produced in ivory, the title motifs are finely carved around the rim and on the lid. The spherical seed in green jade; its stepped base in silver. Circa 1925. Signed G. BASTARD under the base and bearing the monogram G.T., engraved on a circular mother-of-pearl pastille inside the lid. Height: 11.5cm - Diameter: 9.2cm Provenance: Amédée Revet - Amédée Revet, Master ivory carver in Paris. Possible supplier of raw ivory and practitioner for Georges Bastard and Yokohama O'Kin. - By descent. Bibliography and related works: Art et Décoration - July 1927. A cylindrical box very similar to our work, with variant decoration, reproduced on page 1; a bowl with carved decoration identical to that of our work reproduced on page 10 in an article entirely devoted to the artist by René Chavance. This work is accompanied by a CITES certificate (valid in the EU).
