JACQUES-PHILIPPE IMBERTON (1846-1930) Saladin's Eagle, 1881 Rare hanging flask in the Egyptomania style Proof in blown glass; the title decoration on each side, surmounted by a cartouche with hieroglyphic characters, and the palmettes under each detached handle are executed in polychrome enamel and kiln-fired gold. The background features red enamel interlacing and geometric motifs in baked gold. The base of the neck, the top of the handles and the neck are enriched with floral motifs executed in polychrome enamel and kiln-fired gold. Signed and dated J. P. IMBERTON 1881 (partly faded) in red enamel under the base. Height: 17cm - Width: 14.5cm
