LOUIS MAJORELLE (1859-1926) Les Trèfles Desk in ribbed, molded and carved mahogany and courbaril veneer. The entablature, resting on a curvilinear, curved and bulging belt on each side, opens with a drawer at the front. The cambered legs, underlined by a wide projecting molding on each edge, each feature a gilded bronze landing with title motifs. The top, with its curved edge, has an original leather top highlighted with iron floral motifs. The original title-motif drawer handle is in gilded bronze. Art Nouveau period. Used condition, accidents and missing veneers, worn and stained leather desk pad. Height: 77cm - Length: 109cm - Depth: 73cm Historical background: Originally part of an entire decoration by Louis Majorelle for the mansion of a relative who was a great personality in Lorraine.
