Jean Prouvé (1901-1984) was a French metallurgist, architect and self-taught designer. He was born in Paris on April 8, 1901, and spent his youth in Nancy. Prouvé came from a family of artists, his father Victor Prouvé being a painter and one of the founders of the École de Nancy. His solid artistic training influenced his own career as a builder and designer. Prouvé's work spans various disciplines, including architectural design, industrial design, structural design and furniture design.
