Jean GOUTIERE-VERNOLLE (1896-1981). Landscape. Oil on canvas. Signed lower left. Dimensions : 73 x 48 cm. Jean Goutière-Vernolle was a French painter born in Nancy in 1896 and who died in Grasse in 1981. He was known for his scenes of Brittany, and in particular his depictions of Breton ports and the life of sailors. Goutière-Vernolle exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, presenting numerous Breton scenes and several depictions of dancing. His works included oil paintings on canvas, such as "Danse bretonne". Provenance: Estate of Monsieur Louis Thirion, furniture in the mansion built in 1923 by Gibert et Ogé, which has remained in the family ever since.
