Edouard Goerg (1893-1969). "Ants and Men". Etching and drypoint. Signed lower left. Numbered. Dimensions: 29 x 25 cm and 48 x 39 cm. Provenance: Estate of Monsieur Louis Thirion, furniture from the private mansion built in 1923 by Gibert et Ogé, which has remained in the family ever since. Expert : Madame Sylvie COLLIGNON Edouard Goerg (1893-1969) was a French painter, engraver and illustrator. He was known for his works depicting the flaws and vices of bourgeois society, often using deformed and caricatured characters. Goerg's early work before the 1930s criticized the bourgeoisie, focusing on themes such as arranged marriages, social outings and family life. His palette gradually lightened over time. Goerg's later works, particularly his paintings of women and flowers, gained popularity among print collectors and bibliophiles.
