Maurice de VLAMINCK (1876 - 1958). The Valley of Nesles. 1921. Lithograph on vellum. Fine proof signed lower right, numbered 34/50. Slightly yellowed. Framed. (not examined outside the frame) K. de Walterskirchen 155. Dimensions: 47 x 63.5cm. Sheet size : 56 x 77cm. Provenance: Estate of Monsieur Louis Thirion, furniture in the mansion built in 1923 by Gibert et Ogé, which has remained in the family ever since. Expert : Madame Sylvie COLLIGNON. Maurice de Vlaminck was a French painter born on April 4, 1876 and died on October 11, 1958. Vlaminck's early career was marked by his interest in music, but he eventually turned to painting after meeting André Derain in 1900. Vlaminck and Derain became lifelong friends and rented a studio together called Maison Levanneur. Vlaminck's artistic style was influenced by artists such as Vincent van Gogh and Paul Cézanne. He was known for his bold use of color and his love of painting landscapes, particularly scenes along the banks of the Seine. Maurice de Vlaminck was an important figure in the Fauve movement.
