Medical officer's saber, attributed to the Army of Africa. Horn handle with filigree. Chased brass mounting, Zouaves-style clamshell guard, with caduceus in a wreath of oak and laurel leaves. Round-backed curved blade engraved "Crozé Proa & Cie Manufre de Châtellerault", double hollow edge and median ridge. Tin scabbard with two bracelets (minor dents). B.E. Late 19th century.
