Description
Officer's saber of the Paris National Guard. Leather-covered handle with double filigree. Brass mounting, hilt with one main branch and two secondary branches decorated with a medallion featuring Lafayette's profile on a cluster of four flags and a rooster. Openwork top decorated with two lictor beams (restorations). Flat-back blade (blocked in the scabbard). Leather scabbard with three cut brass fittings and two rings. A.B.E. (Damage to scabbard, blade jammed). Circa 1790.
