Fancy model 1896 large cavalry officer's saber, bronze hilt with seven flat branches, filigree horn spindle; single-throated straight blade signed on the back: "Sabre d'officier de cavalerie Mle 1896 - 1re taille. Manufacture nationale d'armes de Châtellerault avril 1914"; iron scabbard with a single strap; length 112 cm. (Oxidized scabbard, needs cleaning). Early 20th century. Good condition.
