ORDER OF SAINT LOUIS : Frame containing: - A notice of appointment as knight of Saint Louis. Headed with the great arms of France "WOLDEMAR COMTE DE LOWENDAL MARÉCHAL DE FRANCE". In the name of Dastagnières, Captain of Infantry in the Crown Regiment. 1748. - On verso a notice of association with the reception of Jean Antoine Rossel de Fontarèches Lieutenant des maréchaux de France. Done April 10, 1791. Signed "Louis". Presented with a Saint Louis cross reduction, from the reign of Louis XVI. In gold and enamel. Height : 28 mm A.B.E. History : ROSSEL (Jean-Antoine Gilles de) baron de Fontarèches. He served as an officer in the Dauphin regiment and took part in the Corsican campaign. Lieutenant to the Marshals of France at Villeneuve lès Avignon, chevalier de St-Louis. His five sons served in the armies, two of whom died together at Trafalgar.
