HEMINGWAY (Ernest). AUTOGRAPH LETTER SIGNED "Daddy". Madrid, July 22, 1953. One page large in-4 with envelope addressed to Finca Vigia, Hemingway's home in San Francisco de Paula, Cuba. AFFECTING LETTER addressed to Roberto HERRERA SOTOLONGO, Ernest Hemingway's photographer and secretary. Longtime friends, the two men had met in Cuba during the Second World War. Roberto Herrera was a Spaniard fleeing Franco's totalitarian regime. He regarded the American writer as a second father. "Dear Monstruo, Thank you very much for forwarding the mail and for taking up the things of the Pilar with Captain Rakow at the Embassy. / When we are back in Paris the first week in August will send a check to cover any expenses you have had at the Finca. / Glad to hear everything is well at the Finca and hope everything goes well with you and your family. Please give them my best and best to Feo. / Please tell Juanito Dunabeitia I will see his mother and give her the fountain pen which I carried away by mistake at the Floridita. It is Juanito's pen. Give my best to all the boys there. I just missed seeing Pedrico in Pamplona. He was on an excursion from Cuba that was passing through. But I saw Paco Echauri and Saralequi at the bull fights also Aymar and Pepe Harios. Aymar Aguolin sent you his best.
