Description

CHATEAUBRIAND François-René de (1768 - 1848) 2 L.A.S. "Chateaubriand," Paris 1827, [to Augustin VARCOLLIER]; 4 1/4 pages in-4. March 14, 1827. Sends him a bill for M. de CHABROL, inviting him to attend the council meeting of the Marie-Thérèse Infirmary to be held next Wednesday. He has obtained permission from the Préfet de Police to place palisades along the outer wall. "Now I need permission from M. de Préfet de Paris to plant within the enclosure of these palisades. I'm going to pretend I've already got it, because the time for planting has come. I have no doubt that Mr. Préfet will continue his kindness. To complete the City's work on my little boulevard, I still have to give the barriers two coats of paint. I recommend myself to Monsieur de Fresnes [Secretary General of the Prefecture] for the completion of this great work"... June 2, 1827. He asks him to deliver a letter to M. de Chabrol or M. de Fresne, to whom he also owes a visit. "But at last the session is over, and I shall pay all my debts"... Attached is a L.A.S. to the Comte de CHABROL, January 4, 1827 (heavy dampening, poor condition).
