Description

PISSARRO Camille (1831 - 1903) L.A. (minute), [ca. 1892 ?]; 2 pages in-12. He has received from Berlin "a personal invitation to an exhibition by a society I do not know, the Verein Berliner Künstler in Bellevuestr. 3. As I have no information on this subject, you would be kind enough to tell me if this society is serious and if my painting would not be too much at odds with the artists who exhibit there"... He has been thinking about "your little painting", which he discussed with Portier, who is once again bedridden following another attack of his illness... He hopes he'll be better soon, so that "we can get on with our little business"... [This exhibition, organized by the Berlin Artists' Association, took place in 1892; it was the first of its size for the artist, an event he himself described as a "sensation"].
