CASSATT Mary (1844 - 1926) L.A.S. "Mary Cassatt", Château du Mesnil, Beaufresne (Oise), [ca. 1894-95, to Camille PISSARRO]; 4 pages in-8. Her brother, whom she has not seen for ten years, is at home, and she has been very busy. "I saw some lovely things of yours at Durand- Ruel, especially a mill that I liked very much. I think it's true what Mr. Durand says, that it's been a bad year, but I think it's all coming back. She goes to speak to Miss Hallowell: "She knows a lot of connoisseurs. [...] The paintings you had in Chicago Chicago were much admired, and it seems to me that everything you do should be bought. She spent a "detestable" summer without being able to work: "I think with despair of my exhibition in New York. I've done so little that I don't think I'll be able to exhibit this year. {...] I hope you're taking care of the color etchings, they're still selling, Durand-Ruel asked me for proofs again recently, so you can see that they must be selling"...
