CIRCA Supporting clock with an architectural structure in the eclectic style, surmounted by the figure of a man, Nicolas Poussin, intent on contemplating the elevation of the ecole des beaux-arts in Paris. On the column a large noble shield with bison and mortar cross is surmounted by a noble crown, a clear reference to Italy, since the painter was well known in Milan. The base is inscribed 'Gobelin Observaotire ; Ecole de Beaux arts'. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, burnished steel hands, pendulum movement with silk wire suspension, hour and half-hour chime on bell. H. 60 cm, W. 39 cm, D. 20 cm.
