Silver, 24.11 g, 39 mm, SPL, Extremely rare D: BENEDICT - XIV - P - M - BONON - A - XVII Bust of the Pontiff R: VNVM OMNIVM VOTVM SALVS PRINCIPIS S - P - Q - B (The health of the prince is the unanimous wish of all. Senate and People of Bologna) distributed in five lines. In 1756, the health condition of the Pontiff (born Prospero Lorenzo Lambertini in Bologna), was such that he was thought to be in mortal danger. His subsequent recovery was greeted with great joy, and the news of his improvement aroused even more enthusiasm in Bologna than elsewhere. For this reason the Senate resolved on January 8, 1757, to dedicate a coin to him expressing the joy of the citizens, from senators to commoners.
