Félix Auguste CLEMENT (Donzère 1826 - Alger 1888)

Old man with hookah and child Original oil on canvas 24 x 35 cm Signed lower right AF Clément Félix Auguste Clément entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1848 under the tutelage of Martin Drolling and Edouard Picot. In 1856, he won the Prix de Rome and left for Italy, later extending his trip to Greece and Egypt, from where he brought back numerous Orientalist paintings. His painting Vendeuses d'oranges à Héliopolis is now on display at the Musée des Beaux-Arts in Nice.
