Description

Louis Hingre (1832-1911) - Laflèche Bréham printing inks. Circa 1900. 86x40.5cm. Original poster, lithograph, unscreened. Condition A-, short margins, small peripheral perforations, slight traces of folding. Founded in 1840, the printing ink company changed its name to Laflèche-Breham in 1871. The company has been based in Saint-Ouen ever since. This was no coincidence, as many printing works were located here at the time. Some of the factory's facades still stand on boulevard Victor Hugo in Saint-Ouen. To illustrate the company's activities, the artist chose to depict an allegory of chemistry, in a totally Art Nouveau style, with obvious references to Mucha, whom he admired.
