Constant Bourgeois du Castelet (1767-1836) , attributed to, View of the Church of St. John and St. Paul in Rome, Italy, 1818 Brown wash over black pencil lines, some foxing, 19.2 x 28.3 cm + frame 31.5 x 39.5 cm, French artist, painter, lithographer, draughtsman and engraver. A pupil of Jacques Louis David, he became a painter of history and especially landscapes, both contemporary and historical. In connection with this work, a lithograph depicting precisely this scene is annotated lower left "Cst Bourgeois 1818" (inventory number E 2012-0205, Musée d'art et d'histoire de Génève).
