ANDERS ZORN (Utemeland 1860 - 1922 Mora) Standing nude, 1907 etching/paper, 23,6 x 17,1 cm signed and dated in the plate Zorn 1907 ESTIMATE € 400 - 800 STARTING PRICE € 400 Painter, etcher and sculptor - primarily impressionist, initially watercolors, turning to oil paintings around 1890, also creating sculptures, the main themes are people and the Swedish landscape. Created around 300 distinctive etchings, thematically mainly portraits and nudes. After attending secondary school, he studied at the Stockholm School of Applied Arts from 1975 to 1877 and at the Stockholm Academy of Art from 1877 to 1881. Until 1896, he made numerous study trips through Europe, North Africa and the USA, including several stays in Paris and especially in London. Afterwards he settled permanently in Mora, until 1912 only interrupted by shorter stays in Germany (mostly in Berlin). 1904 member of the Royal Berlin Academy of Fine Arts in Berlin, 1910-1912 member of the Hagenbund (honorary member) and 1910 participation in the exhibition “Swedish Artists” in the Hagenbund. 1919 Founder of the Anders Zorn Scholarship. Exhibition activities all over the world, works including Albertina, National Museum Stockholm, Metropolitan Museum New York, Uffizi Gallery Florence, Musee de Paume Paris, National Gallery Berlin; Etchings include Art Institute of Chicago and Bibliotheque National Paris, Kupferstichkabinett Berlin, Anders Zorn Museum in Mora. Honors, prizes (selection): 1896 Gold Medal International Art Exhibition Berlin; 1901 Large Golden Plaque International Art Exhibition Dresden, as well as other international recognitions and awards; in Austria: 1910 Archduke Ludwig Medal; Naming of a path in Vienna/Inzersdorf; PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights.
