He studied at the Glasgow School of Art. He then went to France to further his education with Tony Robert-Fleury and William Adolphe Bouguereau at the renowned École des Beaux-Arts. His romantic landscapes show an influence of the Barbizon school. In 1906 Alfred East was elected President of the Royal Academy of Arts. On July 7, 1910, East was created a Knight Bachelor by King Edward VII. Our picture shows a walk on a rural avenue under a dramatic skye. PLEASE NOTE: The purchase price consists of the highest bid plus the buyer's premium, sales tax and, if applicable, the fee of artists resale rights.
