From 1924 he was a member of the Vienna Art Community. In 1925, he took part in their spring exhibition in Vienna with three pieces. Later, his works were regularly shown and offered at major exhibitions and auctions in Vienna. In May 1929, for example, his painting “Biedermaier Interior” was offered at a major auction at the Dorotheum. Mayr has an entry in "The Austrian Painters of the 20th Century" by Heinrich Fuchs, Vienna, 1977.
