Suppantschitsch ESTIMATE °€ 200 - 400 STARTING PRICE °€ 200 The Austrian painter Maximilian Suppantschitsch studied with Eduard Peithner von Lichtenfels at the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts and spent study visits in Austria-Hungary and Italy. In 1897, he became a member of Wiener Künstlerbund (Vienna Artists' Association). In 1900, he was a founding member of the Hagenbund. He was also a member of the Wachauer Künstlerbund (Wachau Artists' Association). In 1900, he took part in the Paris World Exhibition and received a "mention honorable". After the First World War, he withdrew from the Viennese art scene. He spent most of his time in Dürnstein, where he had his permanent residence from 1944. Suppantschitsch created a number of paintings, sketches and detailed studies of architectural and folkloric motifs from the Wachau. Honours: Kleine goldene Staatsmedaille (Small Golden State Medal) (1908), Königswarter Prize (1900), Drasche Prize (1915).
