In-8, fawn speckled calf, ornate ribbed spine, red title page, gilt head, gilt int. roulette, mute covers (modern binding). New edition (the original appeared in 1680 in Grenoble), revised and enlarged by Pierre-Vincent Chalvet (1767-1807), "Professor of History at the Central School of the Department of Isère". (He was Stendhal's teacher). A fully annotated copy (additions and corrections), probably by Chalvet himself, as the verso of the title page bears the words: "Nombre des articles où j'ai fait des additions et corrections (...)".
