GHANDARA FRAGMENT
Grey Schist Gandhara 4th century Dimensions: Height 42 cm Wide 17 cm Depth 7 cm with base Weight: 8880 grams with base Schist fragment of Buddha joined by various devotees and animals. The clothing and hairstyle is typical for sculptures from this era, showing Greco-Roman influences like the attire and wavy hairstyles. The woman carrying something on the head in the upper left corner resembles a caryatid from a temple. A monkey riding a soaring horse, an elephant and a man on a camel are also among the group. A man in armour with a sword is holding a torch.
