Grey schist Gandhara 4th century Dimensions: Height 45 cm Wide 18 cm Depth 7 cm with base Weight: 9 kilograms with base A schist fragment showing a lively scene of Buddha and his disciples or followers, among them zoomorphic creatures with the head of a sow, a monkey and boar or bear. All of the characters are gazing to the left in anticipation, some are holding weapons. Buddha has his hand raised to the forehead as if gazing into the distance. A disciple is clutching to his arm and is seeking protection behind the God.
