SUPERB GENERAL OFFICER'S SABER. Chased and gilded bronze mounting. Finely checkered ebony handle (cracked back). Helmeted bearded head pommel with antlers on short skirt chased with a palmette and a leafy cornucopia. Single-branch hilt, hollowed out in the middle, decorated with foliate scrolls. Quillon decorated in succession on a bitter background on the back, curved towards the tip and ending in a rosette, and two large half-round chased scroll auricles. Blade with round back, counter-edge and hollow sides, engraved, gilded and blued in thirds, decorated with trophies of arms surmounted by the imperial eagle, foliage and pine cones on both sides, with "IS", "C" and "Manufacture de Solingen" in gilded cartouches. Gilt brass scabbard, with two bracelets and two rings entirely and beautifully chased and decorated with foliage, mistletoe and oak, ovals, winged lightning and scrolls. Gilded brass sting in suite. B.E. 1st Empire period. In its original gilding.
