GENERAL OFFICER'S SWORD. Silver mounting. Spindle with grooved mother-of-pearl plates protected by two silver rods on the sides. Pommel in the shape of a pearl-headed stock, adorned with a sword with laurel wreath and ribbon. One-branch hilt chased with foliage, resting on a sphinx. Foliate radiating quillon. Keypad with imperial eagle resting on Jupiter's spindle with lightning bolt, framed by a branch of oak leaves and a branch of laurel leaves, bordered by a semiset of stars and pearls. Triangular blade engraved, gilded and blued in thirds, stamped "ICB" on the heel, decorated with foliage and trophies. Leather scabbard with two silver trimmings, engraved with bat wings, acorns and foliage. Hallmarked cap. Paris title mark (1809-1819), goldsmith's association mark, medium guarantee mark and Louis JOLIVET "LJ" goldsmith's mark. B.E. First Empire period. Cracked scabbard leather.
