SUPERIOR OFFICER'S SWORD ATTRIBUTED TO THE DRAGONS, LUXURY SILVER MODEL. Spindle entirely covered with a double filigree with two braided rings. Chased and hallmarked silver mounting, pommel with empanelled helmet, single-branch guard, body knot and straight quillons decorated with foliage. Line-decorated bivalve shell, enriched with foliage and two riveted and chased pomegranate motifs. Straight blade with flat back and hollow sides, engraved with the imperial eagle, two inscriptions "L'EMPEREUR DE FRANCE" and "VIVE NAPOLEON", gilded and blued in thirds (heavy wear). Leather scabbard with two silver fittings. Asymmetrical iron sting. B.E. First Empire period. Poinçon de premier titre et de grosse garantie, Paris (1798-1809), Poinçon de petite garantie au faisceau de licteur (1798-1809). Stamped with a boar's head when sold. With its green morocco sword belt embroidered with two silver-thread edgings and laurel leaves on the gusset. Brass "S" clasp buckle (traces of silver plating).
