SOUVENIRS OF THE BATTLE OF IENA . Beautiful pocket watch in 925/1000 silver and gilt metal. Rooster movement with key winding. Enameled dial with painted Arabic numerals. Case finely worked around the perimeter with a recessed frieze. Silver back pierced with inscription "L'ARMEE FRANÇAISE A IENA EN 1806 - A. VENGE ROSBACH DE 1757". In the center, within a shield, Emperor Napoleon I in profile bust against a background of military trophies. Fine quality. Diameter: 55 mm. Gross weight: 128.51g. A key is included. In working order (no warranty). Escapement Historical background: The Battle of Rossbach (November 5, 1757) marked the victory of Frederick II's Prussians over the French and Imperials. It was "avenged" by the French at Jena in 1806, with the column erected on the site being dismantled by the French.
