FINE, FLAT FOLDING POCKET KNIFE. Marbled tortoiseshell flanges (chip at top). Mounting covered on the edge with a chased gold plate, Gold rivet cabochons and three-groove cap, engraved with the number "B". Straight, flat-back steel blade, signed, (illegible), at heel. Open length: 29 cm. Closed length: 16 cm. B.E. Late 18th century. Provenance : According to family tradition, this knife belonged to General Bonaparte. It was inherited from the collection of Princess Marie-Clotilde, Countess de Witt, sister of Prince Louis Napoleon, then inherited and passed on to a family member, then to a private collection, then to the Jean Louis Noisiez collection. A certificate from the former owner attesting to the provenance will be enclosed with the knife.
