LONG VENERIE FLINTLOCK PISTOL. Round barrel, with flats on top, engraved at the muzzle and chased with thunder of a huntress armed with an arrow, her dog at her feet and an elongated boar, interlacing, foliage and fleurs-de-lis. Engraved breech tail. Gooseneck lock and hammer with flat, finely chased bodies on an amatized background of foliage, a dog attacking a stag and an angel with a trumpet accompanied by two dogs. Pan-shaped iron basin with sparkle pattern. Cover engraved en suite. Chased brass fittings. Bridges adorned with a male bust with laurel wreath, foliage, interlacing, acorns and tassels. Counter plates decorated with a rider firing a pistol, a dog and foliage scrolls. Strong long-eared pommel, decorated with interlacing and foliate scrolls. Varnished walnut stock, with long shaft and partly carved horn tip, enriched on the back with an oval thumbpiece decorated with a helmeted man in bust under a princely crown. Wooden stick with horn tip. B.E. Fine quality. Germany, circa 1720-1740 (Small crack on one side of the shafts). Length : 53 cm.
