Scuola veneta del XVIII secolo
Venetian school of the 18th century
Turkish birdcatcher
Oil on canvas
118 x 75 cm
The work has already been published as a painting by Fra Felice Cignaroli and already presented at auction as attributed to Giovanni Battista Cimaroli. It should be traced back to the Venetian milieu of the late eighteenth century not immune to the interest in popular, Spanish subjects, between naturalism and folklore, as Lorenzo Tiepolo in Madrid shows us, probably thanks to the influence of Goya; as well as from oriental subjects, already extensively investigated and interpreted by Francesco Guardi.
